FAQs and more information about bespoke commissions

What is a commission?

A commission is when you (the client) commission me to draw a London pub of your choice*. You receive the original and one of a kind artwork, not a print or a copy.

How do I book in a bespoke commission with you?

I open a limited amount of slots, a couple of times a year. The only way to hear when these slots become available is by signing up to my mailing list.

How long does it take?

I ask clients for their deadline dates (e.g. if you want to gift the drawing for a birthday) and will work towards that date. Please note I will need at least two weeks after commissions have been booked in to work to a deadline date.

How much is it?

My 2026 prices are:

A5 - £280

A4 - £480

A3 - £880

These prices do not include postage and are subject to change. Bespoke sizes and multi pub drawings are priced on a case by case basis.

More detailed information:

These are unframed artworks and personalisations (e.g. special date) can be written under the artwork after completion if desired.

Sadly I cannot add personal portraits of clients into the drawing. People are drawn in naturally when I draw pubs from life and if a figure/face appears on pub signage only.

My commission subjects are of London pubs only. *Due to the nature of my project I am prioritising pubs I have not already drawn or have prints available of - thanks for your understanding. (Please check with me if you're not sure!)

After confirming the details of your project over email, you will be sent an invoice for a 50% deposit payment. Deposit payments are required on receipt of your invoice. Prompt payment is advised to ensure your project is booked in. Your project will not be booked in/started until the deposit has been received.

The same applies for the final payment, your drawing will not be posted to you until the final instalment is received.

Payments are made via bank transfer.

Some drawings are completed 'in situ' so I would be drawing the pub in person -which is my preferred way to work, some photos/videos may be shared on social media of the drawing and progress (your name/reference to your commission won't be shared).

I am currently only accepting commissions from individual clients, not pubs/landlords/pub companies.

If prints are required these may be purchased directly from Lydia/or www.lydiawooddrawings.com
